Tip 1—Keep Fighting Bacteria

Everyday bacteria is trying to gain the upper hand in your mouth.  Your saliva is the first defense against bacterial growth, but sometimes it rarely washes all food and drinks particles down your throat.  Consequently, brushing, flossing and mouth washing is a necessary part of oral hygiene.  Without at a twice a day regimen, bacteria will form into plaque which will eventually lead to cavities.

Tip 2—Make and Keep Routine Dental Appointments

Everyone should visit a dentist at least twice a year.  However, to upkeep your smile you may need more appointments due to your level of oral health.  Bacteria have a propensity to accumulate in hard to reach places, so even a meticulous oral hygiene regimen can miss a spot or two.  Dentists use specialized tools such as digital x-rays, panoramic scanners, and power scrubbers to find and remove plaque and tartar in tight spots.

Tip 3—Floss

Most patients do not like to floss.  We find that it is typical because they do not know the proper technique.  Hence, we take out time to show you how and why flossing is so important.  You’ll be amazed at how much is left between your teeth after eating.  Furthermore, brushing along simply cannot remove food particles that hide between teeth.
