Current Options for Cavities

There are a variety of filling options for teeth that have been damaged by cavities.  A breakdown of the most common are as follows:

  • Amalgam fillings: These silver fillings are extremely durable and inexpensive.  Nevertheless, their color makes them very noticeable.
  • Composite resin fillings: Patients that choose these enjoy the blending quality they present.  Resin fillings have a natural appearance and their color can be matched with teeth.  However, they are not as resilient as other types of fillings.  Composite also tends to get stained easily from coffee, tea, wine, and tobacco products.
