Usually school demands a strict schedule to follow, which includes brushing and flossing in the morning and after dinner. When school is out it is easy to abandon the routine especially if kids are allowed to sleep in. Make sure that daily tooth brushing and flossing never is overlooked. Teaching your children the importance of daily oral hygiene is lifelong gift that prevents expensive dental problems.

At what age should I begin bringing my child to the dentist?
According to the AAPM (American Academy of Pediatric Dentists) as soon as a child has their first tooth parent should begin regular dental checkups. This routine will also help the child to get acquainted with dental visits.
What is recommended for child oral care between regularly schedule dental checkups?
Before first tooth comes in: Wipe your child’s gums with a very soft moist cloth after meals or at least twice a day.
After teeth appear: Use a kids soft brush to clean teeth after meals. Be sure to use a small amount of fluoride toothpaste, which prevents excessive tooth decay (kids tend to try to swallow it because of its sweet taste so be careful).
Once standing and able to control toothbrush: This is an excellent time to supervise your child’s tooth brushing. Show them how to brush all areas of their teeth and monitor their use of toothpaste and mouthwash.
